Wet Pants, and Starbucks

| | Comments (0)
Starbucks has resorted to using cheaper lids. That or they just got a bad batch at this one store. Which seems really possible. Anyhoo. Melissa, Lucian and myself were in the car at Starbucks waiting in line to get our respected fixes, Double Shot, Vanilla milk and tea. Lucian also happened to be playing with my seat beat, moving as far as he could out and then letting it go so the seatbelt locked and I could move all that well, It was all fun until the tea came. Melissa had been warning me about the lids. They have been a bit cheap for a while. Melissa's coworker had a tea fall apart on her, and the only way you can handle the cups was by the cup and never ever hold it near the lid.

We get the drinks. I'm trying to get the seat belt clipped back in. Melissa is handing me the tea while I'm doing this and absentmindedly I grab the cup and it pops open for a second. Spilling tea down the backside of my shorts. Cold tea, crotch up the crack. Oh god that was cold. I screamed like I was girl being scared at a slumber party.

For the entire trip home, I was sitting there in tea that never seemed to get warm. My ass was cold and I just wanted to get home to take a shower. When we get back, I get out and Melissa just starts to laugh. My entire backside looks like I peed myself. I walk inside and my mother-in-law is there and she hears of me spilling tea and sees nothing, until I walk past her where she and Melissa starts to laugh their asses off.

It was funny. It was really funny. And really wet.

Tucson Comic-Con

The first Tucson Comic-Con will be held in November at the a hotel in Tucson that right next to the University. I have mixed feelings about this comic convention going on here. One, it's a freebie, which tells me that there isn't going to be anyone coming of note. So what makes a comic convention a convention will turn into a basically a huge comic book sales floor for cheap comics on the move. Which brings me to my second fear, not being in town for a huge sale.

And one thing you can count on, people coming out of the woodwork trying to sell a comic that even 70's would skoff at.

Here are the links.

Japanese Time Suck

This is a time suck. A huge time suck. It's made by someone from Japan. Hence it's Japanese and of course a time suck. The Japanese know one thing better than anyone else, creating something that inherently beautiful.

So I've gone to Wordpress for a web comic that I'm currently doing right now. I'm finishing the sixth page right now for this first story. I've been meaning to hammer out these stories for such a long time, but I always want to tell these long form stories. Now I'm just forcing myself to tell short, six to eight page stories that I want to tell. Maybe do something longer. The upside is that I'm working on something. It's been a real long time since I've done that. Downside, the Wordpress thing that I've chosen only allows me a one page a day. So on the plus side, I have up until the eighteenth planned out.

I'm also going to be switching up tools when I draw. This first story was done on Corel Canvas X with the pencil tool. It's sloppy. Next up, I'm going to try what one of my favorite illustrators does and use Illustrator.

I'm also probably going to move this blog to WordPress as well. I'm really impresses with Wordpress 2.5, it is leap and bounds over 1.2 when first tried an install.

My son is also drew something.  Here it is.

The Secret to Staying Young

| | Comments (0)

Ernest Borgnine, 91, has told people on Fox his secret to looking and staying young. The commentators on FOX said that he looked like he was in his late 60's early 70's. Truth be told, Borgnine does look younger than his age. When asked about why looked young, he smiled wide and whispered his secret, the mic picked it up and the entire couchpoters just broke into laughter.

You should listen to what Ernest does to stay young.

MT 4.2

Movable Type 4.2 final release just came out today. So I'm wondering how it's going to work overall. Is there going to be an overall speed boost. Does it choke a donkey with it's RAM hoggin'?

I wish this was actually Morgan Freeman doing the narration for this "documentary."

Apple Flaws

I've been an Apple user for a long time. A really long time. There was a time that I almost switched over. I've been comfortable with Windows. Never delved into the Linux world. But I've always been a Mac users.

Now I'm seeing some cracks in the perfectly molded Apple face. I think it has to do with Apple stretching themselves to far, to quickly. Apple makes great products, almost so stunning that everyone else starts to follow in their steps for design.

But the writing was on the wall when Apple had to shift over the OS team to the iPhone team to get the product out on time. On top of that the launches of Mobile Me and some bugs in the Apple OS/software lines are starting to show up.

There will be about three updates in under five months. I don't remember the last time that has happened. Outside of security updates, this is has been pretty rapid for Apple.

Dirty Jay

You know the personable geeky Sprint guy from the Alltel commercials before the switched him to the weird guy with the fro? Well, he's called Dirty Jay and he has a YouTube channel, called, Dirty Jay, mack daddy. He dispenses sage like wisdom on how to not be a loser with the ladies.

I guess his sexual addiction was what got him taken out of the Alltel commercials.

Toyota Kicks Some Ass

Toyota created a Segway thing. It's along the same basic idea. You lean your weight to make it go and turn and everything else. The only problem with it is that it isn't as long range as the Segway. It's much short on distance, about 10k. But the footprint is a lot smaller and here is where the Winglet has an advantage over the Segway, it doesn't need the handle bar. You can just glide with it.
