Console Repair

My step-son, Dev, sent in a X-Box a couple of weeks ago to get repaired for a RRoD. It’s still under warranty so fixing it seemed like a waste since it could be fixed for free by Microsoft. Last week, I was told that the machine was repaired and it’s just waiting to be transported.

That was last week. Nothing has moved forward. With a 13 year old who is constantly “bored” and one of his favorite pastimes outside of skating, so driving his 5 year old brother insane, getting the X-Box back as fast as possible is always a nice thing.

I contacted Microsoft through their Twitter page, which is about as fast as those old real time chat sessions from yester-year and found out that there have been some pretty interesting storms hitting Texas. The idea of a storm is pretty foreign here in Arizona. We get heavy stripper clouds here. Just a lot of teasing before they move on to somewhere else.

I was told to look soon to the page again. There should be some updates. Maybe some sanity in the house where we don’t have to hear both the boys fighting over… I have no clue what the hell they fight over.

Not a Big Fan of Monday Travel

I like Mondays, it means I get to go back to work and do that thing that I like to do. There is just one small problem with Mondays with me, that’s the travel back to Tucson. Depending on the week, it just screws my body.

One thing that happens is that everything feels like it’s been abused by eight gallons of coffee. The heart feels a little faster, my mouth has a slight taste of acid in my mouth, the rest of my body is jittery.

This is my monday.

This is what happens until Tuesday morning. Mondays suck, but not because I got back to work.

The voice of Speed Racer has died

The voice of Speed Racer, Peter Fernandez died yesterday of lung cancer, he was in his 80s when he died. Not only was he the voice of Speed, he was also the voice of Rex Racer and did so many other voices on so many other shows. He was part of the reason why so many Japanese shows were brought over and made watchable by American children.

It was all due to Peter Fernandez.

Recently, Fernandez was doing voice over work for Speed Racer the Next Generation as an adult Spritle, originally voiced by Corinne Orr, who ran a racing academy where Speed Jr and his older brother X attended.

He also did the voice of Ultraman, a live action show.

You can still get these shows on DVD for kids to enjoy. Mine, fell in love with Speed Racer because of the fast action and great colorful imagery. Later when we was older, he would watch Ultraman for a live action version of awesomeness.

God of Anderson

This is what might happen if Wes Anderson was given a videogame movie. In a way, we’ve seen Anderson make this type of movie. Some would argue that it is most of his movies. But if this trailer was real, I’d see this… On DVD.

This What Wired Said 11 Years Ago

WIRED knew the iPad was coming 11 years ago! on Twitpic

The image above has small blip about Apple finally turning around after basically everyone in the world, but the diehard writing them off. Apple released the iMac and it’s Bondi goodness and the world fell in love again. This was all pre-iBook and it’s toilet seat goodness. There was already talks about releasing an iPad.

Super Slo-Mo

What we have from the glorious site called Pink Tentacle are some super slo-mo movies from Japan with various acts of things happening. A man getting slapped in the face, pudding upside a balding man, a Chameleon vs. human and what looks to be the most perverted, a swimsuit model getting splashed with champagne(that one is embedded below.) There are a total 25 in total.

Strange Beauty

Now as odd as this will sound, this image is somewhat beautiful. The lines and colors and everything else just really add to it. I just can’t stop looking it.

This is my semi-dream car

Because of my son, Lucian, I have  a dream of owning a yellow Fiat500. The Fiat500 shares a history with Lupin the 3rd, a fictional thief. The Fiat500 also shares some history with the movie Cars and one of the people behing Studio Ghibili, the studio behind Spirited Away and Porcco Rosso from the valley of the Wind.

The little Italian car is now making a comeback in a big way since it acquired controlling interest in GM. Late this year the revamped 500 is coming to the United States. This time with a possible engine that is low on CO2 gas and fuel economy that can almost match a Prius. Here we get a car with lines and curves that at times are sorely missed in todays world is slants with a great fuel economy.
